The complete guide to Solace

Solace is an organic, caffeine-free loose-leaf herbal tea formulated for menstrual support. It's built on raspberry leaf, chamomile and dandelion root, with cinnamon and apple for warmth and sweetness, and it's made for women dealing with period cramps, bloating and PMS mood swings. Start it 2 to 3 days before your period and drink 1 to 2 cups daily. $29 for a 65g pouch, about 30 cups, or $11.60 a month on subscription.

Who Solace is for

  • Your period arrives with cramping that reorganises your day

  • You bloat in the days before and during

  • Your mood drops in the week before bleeding

  • You want something you can drink daily rather than reach for only in crisis

  • You already have a tea habit and would rather it worked for you

Who Solace is not for

  • If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, speak with your doctor or midwife first. Raspberry leaf is generally advised against in early pregnancy

  • If your period pain is severe, meaning it makes you vomit, keeps you home from work, or doesn't respond to over-the-counter pain relief, tea is not the answer to that question. Get it investigated. Endometriosis and adenomyosis are commonly missed and take years to diagnose on average

  • If you're in perimenopause or menopause, Harmony or Balance is the better fit

Full ingredients

Organic chamomile, organic raspberry leaf, organic dandelion root, organic apple pieces, organic stevia leaves, organic cinnamon.

That's the complete list. Nothing else, no fillers, no flavourings, no added sugar.

What each ingredient is doing

Raspberry leaf. Traditionally used as a uterine tonic, meaning it's thought to support the muscle in contracting efficiently rather than forcefully. Most clinical research on raspberry leaf is in pregnancy rather than menstruation, so this use rests on long herbal tradition. Also a natural source of magnesium, calcium and iron, which matters if you bleed heavily.

Chamomile. Traditionally used as an antispasmodic and calming herb. Some research suggests it may ease menstrual pain along with the tension and disrupted sleep that often come with it.

Dandelion root. Used traditionally as a gentle diuretic and for liver support, which is why it appears here for period bloating.

Cinnamon. Small studies have looked at cinnamon for menstrual pain with modest positive findings. It also supports blood sugar stability, which matters in a week when your appetite is genuinely higher.

Apple pieces. Natural sweetness and body, no added sugar.

Stevia leaf. A zero-calorie sweetener from the stevia plant, used so the blend is pleasant enough to drink every day. A ritual you dread isn't a ritual you'll keep.

What it tastes like

Aroma: lightly floral with sweet herbal notes and a hint of warm spice.

Taste: smooth and subtly sweet. Chamomile and apple lead, cinnamon warms the finish, and there's a gentle earthy note underneath from the raspberry leaf and dandelion. Not bitter, not medicinal.

How to use it

  1. Scoop 1 tablespoon of Solace into a mug of hot water

  2. Steep 5 to 7 minutes, covered. Covering keeps the volatile oils in your cup instead of evaporating into the room

  3. Drink 1 to 2 cups daily

  4. Timing matters most. Start 2 to 3 days before your period is due and continue through your heaviest days. Prostaglandin release, the thing driving cramps, begins before the bleeding does

How long before you notice anything

Some effects, like chamomile's calming quality, can be felt the same day. Cycle-related effects generally take one to two full cycles of consistent use. Herbs work with your body's rhythm rather than overriding it, so commit to one 65g pouch, roughly a month of daily cups, before you decide.

Safety and interactions

  • Speak with your provider before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding

  • If you take medication regularly, check with your pharmacist. Tannins in raspberry leaf can affect the absorption of some drugs, so spacing tea and medication an hour or two apart is sensible

  • Dandelion can cause reactions in people with ragweed or daisy-family allergies

  • Certified organic, gluten-free, vegan, caffeine-free
